about
A second track from the newly forged project by Ted Stevens (Cursive, Lullaby for the Working Class, Mayday)

A lonely figure sets out upon a page
this page, we'll call the world
faithless ink greets the steady tree
on a plane of parallel blues
he's abstracted life to a petty game
that he shares with a faithless few
this world made of too many corners
this world made of too many rules
the lives we never knew
the paths not followed through
compare not to the steady few
those whose love is true
In the first life he is a fountain
a bursting productive inky blue
in the second life he is a hangman
a judge and jury too
in the next life he is a thumbtack
a witness stuck in a map of the world
almost statuesque, our heroic paperweight
stands up three dimensions now
Many worlds in, many lives lived
our figure, now angry and proud
he's eating up the pages
he's tearing through his own ages
just racing a reader's brow
he's sketching out his last life
in a world of changing hues
this new world demands red and yellow,
queer oranges and purples too
